"Behind every session, there’s a quiet force"
"A workday filled with lists, plans and unexpected turns"
Some days start before the first appointment even begins.
As my laptop boots up, the phone’s already ringing and I know: it’s going to be one of those days.
The intake list is waiting, three appointments have been rescheduled, and there’s an email asking if I can “just quickly” set up a meeting.
Sounds familiar? I thought so. 😉
Because in mental health care, no day ever goes exactly as planned.
And honestly? That’s exactly what I love about my work.
My mornings usually revolve around planning and coordination — scheduling new intakes, sending confirmations, arranging meetings.
It’s a bit like a puzzle, only with people instead of pieces.
At the same time, I keep the waitlist and screening list up to date: who can be seen soon, who’s waiting for a response, and where extra attention is needed.
By midday, the inbox is full, but the schedule finally makes sense again.
I update client records, process forms and prepare declarations.
It’s not glamorous work, but it’s essential — because when the admin runs smoothly, the care does too.
Between all that, I double-check next week’s schedule. A few tweaks here, a quick coordination there — and a happy message from a practitioner who’s relieved that “everything’s in order again.”
That’s what it’s all about.
By the end of the day, the admin is done, the lists are up to date, and everyone knows where they stand.
✨ And yes, that too is a form of care.
Whether you’ve just started your own practice or have been working full days for years — a few hours of support each week or month can make a real difference.
